Welcome!

I’m Al/ison (they/them/their).

I’m an artist, musician, writer, and Tarot card reader from upstate NY.

I believe in spreading magical joy anarchy through all my creations — from making dioramas out of recycled materials, to refinishing furniture I find on the side of the road, to queer-ifying thrifted goods with creative tailoring!

My mission in life is to work toward individual and collective liberation by continuing to heal my own wounds, while using my intuitive skills to help others heal, too.

I would be happy to work with you on an art project, musical collaboration, or Tarot reading.

My Story

My father’s side of the family is Scottish and German, and my mother’s side of the family is Greek and Austrian / Ashkenazi Jew. I am the product of my ancestors’ settler-colonial immigration to Indigenous land known as the United States in the 19th and 20th centuries, which required abandoning their traditional cultural and religious practices to assimilate into whiteness in pursuit of the “American dream.”

Part of my mission on earth is to learn from my ancestors’ experiences — both as victims and as oppressors — so I do not repeat the mistakes of our past. My earliest memories are of my maternal Grandpa Oscar, a Holocaust survivor who died before I was born, sitting by my crib and teaching me about love and justice before I could understand language. I honor this history and simultaneously resist its weaponization for furthering fascism, authoritarianism, and the Israeli genocide against Palestinians — all of which which I strongly condemn. My memories and beliefs fuel my commitment to helping create a more just, loving, and liberated world for ALL.

When I was younger, I tried to fit in with those around me, though I always felt different. After surviving childhood sexual abuse, I suppressed my intuitive abilities and developed severe depression and anxiety in my teens. I found refuge in music, art, and writing, which continue to help me express and process my experiences.

When I was 22, I unexpectedly lost my father to suicide. I started exploring Tarot as a way to process the loss and try and reconnect with his spirit. In the decade since purchasing my first Rider-Waite-Smith deck, I’ve learned to trust my intuition, to honor the transformative magic of healing, and to respect Tarot as a powerful tool which amplifies the inner wisdom we all possess. I would be honored to walk beside you in your journey.
